The Official Update for VOSD Summer 2008

By alvaldez74

Hey Friends,

I wanted to first of all thank everybody who has subscribed to this blog for updates and encouragement! One of our most popular blogs so far has been “What I’ve Learned”. I received a lot of good feedback and our hits were through the roof! If you regularly read this blog feel free to leave a comment or an idea for any topic that you feel is interesting. I read all of the comments and post the one’s that are encouraging to us all. Now here is the update!

Our Soul Winning Summer Campaign has been a wonderful success so far through the “Summer Nights ‘08″.

Rufus Troutman and Zapp really set it off. It was cool to see how he used some of the old Zapp songs to hook the crowd but with a gospel twist. People were really moved by his music and many people made a decision to serve God. Attendence was awesome. We had over 1200 people in attendance and many of those were unchurched. The excitement level was at a powerful peak and we finished the evening off with our Victory Boxing Academy Boxing Expo that featured 3 bouts. It was inspiring to see that many of our Victory Outreach Youth are not only excelling spiritually but also athletically. We even had a girl bout that really had the people on their feet! It was amazing to see how hard these young people work for the Lord.

July 3rd marked the day for The Fourth of July Extravaganza. Partnering together with G-Fire, the young adult ministry of VOSD, we invited special musical guest J-Love. This was an event for the whole family. We decorated our parking lot with games and jumpers for the kids and an outside stage for entertainment. We also provided some good barbecue for the people of God and everyone left happy and full. J-Love did a wonderful job of ministry in the main sanctuary and once again many were touched and saved.

The Victory Outreach San Diego Regional Unity Service was probably one of the best that we have ever hosted. VO churches from all over San Diego County and Imperial Valley were in attendance. One pastor said, “It feels like conference!” And it sure did when we received the challenge from Pastor David Martinez to pray for Revival. Pastor David has traveled the world and had just returned from Cape Town, South Africa with reports of revival in the community. Many people are receiving salvation and the church just purchased a brand new building to accommodate all of their wonderful growth.

So what now?

Well we are just half way through the summer and we have so much more in store! Keep these very special events in prayer:

The Journey DNA w/ Georgina Valdez, Friday July 18th @ 7p.m.

Love Conquers All, Marriage Seminar w/ Pastor Dan & Barbara Sanchez, Saturday, July 19th @ 9a.m. Tickets on sale for $40 dollars per couple.

And our team said, “We were going to slow down this year?!” I guess when God wants to move, he takes control. That is just fine by me! Keep us in prayer and hope to see you there. We love you.

Man, I need a RedBull!

Pastor Al

It’s awesome to hear what God is doing in Sunny San Diego. I thought San Diego was just good for the weather, Mexican food and surfing (I prefer La Jolla Shore over Windansea Beach personally J/K) but it sounds there is a revival over there.
    Keep Up the Good Work.
